Babachir rushes to Osinbajo, denies knowledge of suspension by President Buhari

The Punch reports that Babachir who rushed into Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s office when his suspension was announced on Wednesday, April 19 feigned ignorance of the action of President Muhammadu Buhari.

On his way out of the meeting with Osinbajo, Lawal was quoted as telling State House correspondents that he was not aware of his suspension and further requested to know who wrote the statement announcing his suspension.

Daily Trust reports that Lawal arrived Osinbajo's office minutes after President Buhari suspended him over his alleged complicity in the mismanagement of funds meant for the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE).

Vanguard confirms that Babachir rushed into Osinbajo’s office just minutes after his suspension was announced in a statement by presidential spokesman Femi Adesina. NAIJ.com recalls that the Nigerian Senate’s ad-hoc committee on the Humanitarian crisis in the North East had indicted Babachir Lawal on handing out of fraudulent contracts in the IDP camps in the northeast. Chairman of the committee Senator Shehu Sani, while presenting the committee’s interim report, revealed that PINE approved contracts for projects that were not directly related to the plight of the IDPs.
