Simon Bako Lalong- the Governor-elect of Plateau State was born on May 5th, 1963. He is a native of Ajikamai in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State. Simon Bako Lalong had his Primary School Education at R.C.M. Primary School Shendam, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1977.

 

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari appeared to have dashed the hopes of the governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) when he rejected their plans to submit a ministerial list to him.

The People of Nasarawa State have been commended by Dr. Zakka Zaggi Rabo (Group Captain, Rtd), the Governorship Candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for their peaceful conduct during last Saturday's elections in the state.

Zakka in a press statement issued in Lafia on Monday, 13 April, 2015, said the citizens of Nasarawa State by turning out massively to vote for the candidates of their choice in the Governorship and House of Assembly polls have shown that they have imbibed democratic culture.

Barr. Simon Bako Lalong has been declared winner of the gubernatorial election in plateau state.It was a slidetest victory for the APC  as both candidates scores above 500,000 votes.

Kansas Republican caucus-goers awarded Donald Trump a bit of humility with a 25-percentage point spanking. Scholars from the northern region under the auspices of Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP) yesterday said security chiefs should publicly admit their failure to overpower the Boko Haram militants and resign their appointments.

Professor Abdullahi Ashafa who spoke on their behalf at a media briefing in Kaduna said: “Insurgents are having a field day, running roughshod on citizens and taking over towns and villages in the North-east with the security operatives looking on hopelessly”.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has today, November 25, announced the devaluation of the naira, with the new exchange officially at N168 to a dollar, and no longer N155.

The CBN officials explained that the move to lower the value of the naira against the dollar was aimed at strengthening the currency in the course of the dwindling oil price.

CBN governor Godwin Emefiele also urged the government to speed up the process towards the immediate passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) pending passage for the past two years.

Two female suicide bombers have struck a crowded market in Maiduguri the Borno state capital early this morning killing several people. 

 Eyewitness told Saharareporters that the suicide bombers detonated their explosives across from the Monday market in the metropolis this morning around 11:30 AM.

Military men attached to the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau state have reportedly opened fire on protesting students of the University of Jos on Tuesday. Some of the students were arrested and moved to the STF headquarters in Jos, Daily Trust learnt.

The Student Union Government (SUG) Public Relations Officer Longgun Dakwon told Daily Trust on phone that the shooting was carried out by military men who stormed the school premises and arrested some students.

Dakwon explained that "I narrowly escaped; the military came into our classes and shot some of us while some were arrested."

Another student, Ibrahim Musa said two students were shot adding that "I saw one shot on the leg and another in the chest."

The STF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha did not answer his call or respond to a text message put to his phone.
