Dr. Zakka in a Press Statement, Wednesday, April 1, 2015, said by Buhari's victory in the presidential polls, the stage is set for positive development in Nigeria. He believes that the experience of Buhari as a former head of state and a former military officer, would enable him embark on reconstruction and restructuring in such a way that Nigeria will witness revolutionary changes and rapid development.
The Nasarawa State ADC Gubernatorial candidate said Buhari's persistence in his involvement in the democratic process in the country has brought a new dimension to Nigeria's polity and has created the enabling environment for the inculcation of democratic culture and the entrenchment of a leadership that is built on the foundation of probity and accountability.
Zakka said the task before the President-elect is enormous and demands that corruption which has bedeviled this nation in the past be eradicated, insecurity be contained, and the nation's economy nurtured.
"The challenge before the President-elect is enormous. The country needs restructuring, corruption needs to be stemmed in all facets of our national life, and insecurity checked. There is also, the need for crime and other sundry vices to be contained. If he does address these when he takes over the mantle of leadership, Buhari would no doubt stamp his name in gold in the history of this nation," Dr. Zakka said.
The Nasarawa State ADC Governorship candidate also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for acceding to the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians for positive change. He said by accepting defeat even before final results from the polls were announced, the President has shown that he his a man full of humility and a man of peace.
"President Jonathan has demonstrated that he is humble and a man of peace. His action has saved this nation from bloodletting and political crisis," Dr. Zakka said.
Zakka urged citizens of Nasarawa State to embrace the wind of change blowing across Nigeria by electing a new government under the ADC to replace the Government of Tanko Almakura, which has failed to stem the state of insecurity in Nasarawa State.
"This is an opportunity that has availed itself to the people of Nasarawa State to end the ineptitude and impunity that have become the hallmark of Almakura's Administration. I urged you all in Nasarawa State to seize the initiative and end this maladministration in our state," Dr. Zakka concluded.
